How Samruddhi from maharashtra got AFCAT Recommendation while working full time: A story of extreme Discipline, Courage & the Right Guidance

Some stories remind us why the uniform is more than a career choice.

It is a calling, and only those who persist long enough get to experience its pride. This is the story of Samruddhi, a young engineer from Maharashtra, who turned five rejections into one life-changing recommendation at 3 AFSB Gandhinagar.

“When the dream is strong enough, you don’t wait for perfect conditions — you create them.”

From Tarapur to Tata Power — and a Dream That Never Left

Growing up in Tarapur, Maharashtra, Samruddhi always admired those who wore the uniform.
But like many young aspirants, life took its own course. She pursued B.Tech (ECE) at Amrita Vishwavidyapeetham, Coimbatore, and later joined Tata Power as an engineer.

Her days were busy, deadlines were strict, and the commute was long.
Yet, every night, the same thought returned — “One day, I will join the Indian Armed Forces.”

So she started preparing for defence exams alongside her job.

And the result?

5 attempts
4 screen outs
1 conference out

For many, this would have been the end.
For her, it was just the beginning.

“I was practicing… but no one was correcting me.”

This one sentence defined her struggle.

Like thousands of aspirants, Samruddhi worked hard — but she had no idea what she was doing right or wrong.
Her biggest challenge was Screening.

When someone suggested R2R, she joined with only one expectation:

“Tell me where I need to improve.”

That single decision changed the direction of her journey.

The R2R Phase: Awareness, Correction & Transformation

The first reality check came in her mock interview.

Neha ma’am pointed out that her stories were “spooky.”
She was writing like a superhero — not like her real self.

And for the first time, she understood psychology the right way:

✔ You don’t need extraordinary stories
✔ You need real, honest, action-driven stories
✔ The assessor looks for the present version of you

With R2R faculty:

Neha ma’am helped her simplify and humanize her TAT stories

Shashank sir guided her on how to highlight actions in PPDT

Jitesh sir made her record and watch herself speak to improve expression

Bit by bit, her communication, thought process, expression, and confidence evolved.
She wasn’t just preparing — she was understanding.

And in her next attempt, after four screen outs…

She finally got SCREENED IN.

The Turning Point: No Excuses, Only Action

Samruddhi’s life was far from easy.

9 AM to 5 PM job
3 hours of travel
No dedicated preparation time

Most people would wait for the “right time.”
But she created it.

  • She read newspapers and R2R notes during her commute
  • Attended GTO classes during lunch break
  • Finished her office work early and studied for two extra hours
  • Removed every excuse she once used to justify her failures

When she started giving her 100%, results followed.
Not immediately — but definitely.

The day she heard her chest number being called out, she felt everything at once—
Relief, Pride and validation of every late night and every early morning.
Her hard work paid off.
Her perseverance paid off.
Her decision to correct herself paid off.
And quietly, in the background, so did the guidance she trusted.

Her Message to Every Aspirant

Samruddhi says:

  • “Don’t lose hope as a repeater.”
  • “I have been screened out multiple times. I had self-doubts. But I kept moving.”
  • “If you truly desire the uniform, you will find your way to it.”
And finally—  “R2R’s feedback and dedication played a huge role in who I am today.”
