How to Deal with Jerks, Pushovers, and Bullies | SSB Group Dynamics & OLQ Guide

Fresh SSB batches starts 1st & 15th of every month.

“Strong people don’t put others down — they lift themselves up.”

1. Dealing with Jerks

People who are rude, arrogant, or unnecessarily negative Your Strategy: Stay calm, set boundaries, don’t react emotionally

  • Don’t match their tone — control yours.
  • Set clear limits: "Let’s talk respectfully, or we’ll end this here."
  • Use logic, not emotion — it unsettles them.
  • Don’t seek approval from them — you don’t need it.
SSB Connection

In Group Discussions or Interviews, jerks might try to dominate or interrupt. Stay firm but polite. Hold your ground without aggression.

2. Dealing with Pushovers

People who don’t say no, avoid conflict, and let others walk over them Your Strategy: Be clear, give structure, don’t depend on them for leadership

  • Don’t expect them to take charge — you lead with clarity.
  • Give them space to speak — encourage contribution.
  • Don’t manipulate them; support them in standing up.
SSB Connection

Help them speak in group tasks. Lifting others up shows team spirit and leadership.

3. Dealing with Bullies

People who dominate, insult, threaten, or try to overpower others Your Strategy: Assertive—not aggressive. Stay composed, report if needed.

  • Don’t allow disrespect — speak up calmly.
  • Use assertive language:
“Don’t talk to me like that. I’m open to a proper conversation.”
  • Document or involve authority if it's repeated and serious.
  • Never respond with fear or rage — that’s what they want.
SSB Connection

Bullying may show up in group tasks or outdoor activities. Don’t ignore it. Show leadership by addressing it constructively.
